Never mind the Ham Local, hope it tastes nice.
One christmas eve many years ago, 1989 I think, hubby and I popped out for a few drinks and left dad babysitting for a couple of hours. Turkey was cooking as oh always like to do that night before.
Came round by the kitchen window gone midnight and there was dad pottering around the kitchen. Opened door, dad had a guilty look and the turkey had a slightly carved breast. He had fancied a hot sandwich when he lifted it out of oven. Funniest bit is he then told oh the bacon on top was nice and crispy.
Well it had been but he had eaten it all:rotfl::rotfl:
Never forget his wee bit guilty look. Priceless:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Tonight is good memories only for my dad who let us open our presents whatever time we woke which was usually 3am:T:T we did sleep afterwards though happy with our satsuma, choc orange, selection box, annual and pencils with our names on.
Looking back not sure why we were so excited as santa bought same things every year but it was magic.
A child who believes in santa doesn't understand you buy the gifts. There is a movement that santa shouldn't bring expensive I pads and pc games those should be bought by family members. Imagine a child in the playground thinking santa had been great then finding out his friends go bigger more expensive presents. The child, not know santa isn't real, thinks santa doesn't like him as much or he has been naughty.
I believe 8 presents from santa plus one main present is right for every child and as elite members we know how hard it is to buy gifts so let's make sure no child feels less loved when comparing but not overdoing it.
Think this is my modern day Xmas moan. Kids get far too much at Christmas, a lot is discarded quickly anyway. I feel my grandchildren are spoilt as have huge amount to open from santa. Think this is the part I dislike most about the season. At least dd bought a lot second had but still far too much but she has promised to try to limit next year. We all love to see the excited little faces opening presents but back in the 70s we rarely had anything at any other time of year except birthday. I know the consumer £ is important to the economy but I don't like it.
I hope a very special person found a cucumber today so their Xmas shopping is complete.
Enjoy quality family time tomorrow and let the lists and timetables go to pot:T
Love you all
