    Evening all

Woke up this morning with no internet.Fiddled about with it for a bit but gave up because I had to go to the dentist.

Got back from dentist and had another fiddle with internet. It was going on and off so went for a womble.
I had already told myself not to pick up scruffy or wet ones.So what did I do.I picked up a wet one dated the 6th.Only £14.78:rotfl:

Picked up a couple more for about another £5.Nothing worth reporting though.

Internet was still playing up so rang a nice foreign lady.We spent about an hour on the phone.Eventually she said it was my adapter on the router and suggested I spoke to an engineer.:o

I've had another fiddle and unplugged the adapter from the router and plugged it in again and it seems to be ok for now.

Picked up my car from the garage .Bank balance £253 lighter.

Not quite up to savvy's and ILGD'S long posts but getting there.:rotfl:

Well done:T:T. Not like one I had the other day where, sadly, too much of the receipt was missing, the full TC wasn't there at all:( - impossible to know if that would have given anything or not. However, I have had quite a few good ones. The £5 ones are probably like mine - simply not 10% cheaper as most prices are similar elsewhere rather than A being 10% lower. Quite a lot of the receipt is comparable so they give about 10% off a £50 or so comparable bill. Reduced by the few pence that A are cheaper on the overall bill against that shop. Usually a r'back but some put back by an item that was cheaper elsewhere. EDIT: I think you meant £5 total between them, in other words like some of mine - over a quid on one and about £3 on the other.

It is as I thought a few weeks ago - the pre-Christmas period the best time for wombles, as people are spending more (so the 10% off a higher amount is more in real value) and stores are matching each other's prices in a bid for the market share in this all-important period.

    £253 for what?

I thought it was just an hour's work dismantling & some soldering & some reassembling.

Might be perfectly OK but what did they do?

And where are you based? - as hourly rates vary enormously, ie London is most expensive

Investigate water leak inside car N/S/F.
Remove scuttle panel and clear debris.
Remove heater unit from inside car behind dashboard ans seal heater vent intake surround as corroded and letting water in.
Remove dash/speedo and clean terminal block as as intermitten speedo fault.
    Replace pollen filter.

    £200 labour
    £11.17 parts
    £42.23 vat

    Based in Brighton,Sussex

    Full and comprehensive answer.:D

That mud must weigh about 5% Savvs :)

Please factor it into your maths lol

:rotfl: The mud would be in the unwashed one though, thus increasing the price of the HB one, whilst the Aldi one remains at 39p for 2kg!

Very good answer, I can't quibble. So most of it was labour, difficult to question that. But it can be done.

£200 labour round here would indicate 8 hours work - which it isn't - but Brighton I don't know.

A better expert than myself can contribute.

My best guess is: this is 2 hours labour, max.

Round here = £50 plus the other bits.

So in Cornwall they've overcharged you £150, in Brighton maybe only £100.

I guess you can live with that. They have thought: female, we'll charge a bit extra.

Myself, I would go back as your husband & demand that they justify the labour.

£100 is £100 but maybe that is not important to you if you get good service in other ways.
