Well done for complaining - but as posted above, keep going through the appeal process, to Parking Eye then to POPLA if necessary.

Hopefully you will get a reply from Halfords mentioning their wish to get the charge cancelled. That may well be useful at the POPLA stage if PE play hardball. To be fair, PE are usually OK for cancelling charges if the retailer requests it.
It's a shame The Range's attitude stinks on that score, but then we do not know what is in their contract with PE......

Were there any facilities for purchasing extra time? If not, then ywo hours is insufficient time to shop in this location, especially at Christmas.

Write to all the retail outlets there and state in terms that, unless this ticket is cancelled you will shop elsewhere, andthat you will advise your family and friends to do likewise. Also, complain to the local Chamber of Commerce that PE is killing trade.

No, the car park is free for 2 hours MAX!

That said the guy in the range said if you leave your registration with customer services you can stay as long as you like...

Anyway, i sent halfords a message via Facebook as a reminder for the manager at halfords, they responded by telling me they had forwarded the message to Swindon Halfords.

I called and spoke to Simon the manager at the store this morning and he confirmed he had cancelled the parking notice.

I then hunted for some way of contacting parking eye, i found a number online and got straight through to a human lol.

Anyway i gave them the reg and ref numbers and he also confirmed it had been cancelled and that a letter had been sent out confirming this.

Good result, confirming the 'complain to the retailer/landowner' strategy can work extremely well.

Glad to hear you've got shot of this before Christmas, well done!

Well done - best way to get them cancelled!
Hopefully you'll get written confirmation from PE in time.

Phoning them is not the recommended way to contact them, even in a situation like this. No paper trail, and if you're fighting a charge, they could coerce you into saying something you may regret!

    Aye understood regarding phoning them.

It was simply to double check what i had already been told tbh.

I have 3 days left before the charge increases to £100.

So lets just hope that letter comes through, then i can breath a sigh of relief.

I still cant belive the difference between the attitudes of the two companies ( the range and halfords)

    Update.

Got a £100 notice yesterday, considering it wasnt due to go up until the 17th they were flipping quick with that and obviously sent it before as it arrived bang in time!

I called them again and they assured me it was cancelled and a letter had been sent.

Today, confirmation of the cancelled notice was in the post!

    Phew.

Well done, complaining to the retailer works, always has, always will, they need customers, not ex customers.
The retailers are waking up to this, albiet slowly. Scammers like parking companies are not welcome.

It will be in the few months of the new year when the retailers are struggling that they ask the question ... WHY

To be fair to PE (we call them enough for other things) they are generally very good at writing to confirm cancellation. Please file that cancellation letter in a safe place for six years (the time limit that alleged debts can be pursued). This isn't 'scare' advice, just safety first, because you just can't guarantee that an admin system in Chorley dealing with millions of tickets each year won't go pear-shape at some time in the future. Just be safe.

Well done, anyway. I'm sure you're going to have a much better Christmas now this is out of the way. All the best.
