Royal Bank of Scotland Phishing Scam

Options
Both myself and a friend who bank with the Royal Bank of Scotland have just received a relatively realistic phishing e-mail allegedly from RBS. The e-mails ask you to follow a link and then follow the instructions for some kind of upgrade. The e-mail address it comes from is XXX@rbs.com

RBS have confirmed that these e-mails are fakes and have asked anyone who receives one (or any e-mail seemingly from RBS which contains a link) to forward it to them at:

digitalbanking@rbs.co.uk.

  • I get about 10 a day from banks all over the world.
There is only one rule to consider when you get an e-mail asking about any online account and that is to DELETE it.

If you run your mouse cursor on the hyperlink you can tell fairly easily that the e-mail has not originated from RBS.
