No postcode

I just sent a parcel, via recorded delivery (2nd class), but when I got home, I realised that I'd missed off the postcode (it didn't print on the label I used - it printed on the next label) and in my haste I just whacked it on the parcel. I'm surprised the PO lady didn't say anything, but because it was over £50, she advised recorded. So I have a tracking number, but am worried it won't be delivered. Anyone know what happens in these circumstances?

  • There is no recorded, it's signed for.

Over £50 it should be sent special delivery. Recorded/signed for only covers up to £50.

Did you put a return address on it? If so you may find it comes back to you. They usually go by number of postcode, but if the rest was right technically there's no reason why it shouldn't get there.

Signed for - yes. The rest of the address was correct. And the item was £50.50.

    :)

It will get delivered, if only the post code was missing.
It will just be sorted by hand & take slightly longer

If you need to claim it may be refused on the basis that the service you used does not cover the loss. It's only 50p but still over.

I thought they just covered it up to the max and anything over would just be your loss? I could be wrong though.
