When to sell a console on eBay?

Options
I have an Xbox 360 which I want to sell. They seem to be fetching around £100 with Kinect at the moment. Just wondering if I should wait until after xmas to get a better price ?

  • Probably best before Christmas, the longer you take the lower the price will get. Especially as the price of PS4 and Xbox One will be having price drops

Now. A week ago would probably have been better.

Before Christmas is the best time but leave it too late and it's unlikely to sell or you'll be competing with the January sales, too earlier and you're competing with all the sellers during Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Remember that the 360s are rather heavy and bulky consoles which could break fairly easy, they're not going to be cheap to post and to to be well packaged. Plus you'll have fees on the total you sell for.

For a pre-owned 360 even with Kinect and even if it's got the biggest harddrive available, the newest model and in excellent condition, you may struggle to get £100 for it if you've no games. There are consoles on ebay selling for around £80/90 with at least 5 games and you can pick up a Kinect for less than £25 (So possibly less than £105 with Kinect and at least 5 games). It depends what people are looking for though.

The price may well go down after Christmas, it's certainly likely to go down at some point over the next year. Shop prices have already dropped this year. Xbox One is getting 360 games added to the marketplace and the 360 is last gen now.

So I'd try selling now, but just be aware that you're not going to end up with £100 cash at the end even if it sells for that price if selling via ebay or Amazon. Be sure to find out postage costs before listing too and pack well.

Games consoles are selling well pre Christmas on my local Facebook site, as people want them as presents.

Post achristmas you will have lots of people selling them if they got more updated versions for Christmas.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Mint condition and boxed with all accessories?

Ever been near a smoker? That was one question asked when my nephew sold his. The buyer didnt want anything that came from a smokers home even if they claimed to only smoke the odd one up a tall tree at the bottom of the garden.
