Geneva raises Terror threat

Sky News are reporting that Geneva has raised the Terror threat for the city amid claims they are looking for suspects after receiving information.

Police with sub machine guns can be seen outside the UN building, with roadblocks being set up.
Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.

On the local forums, people are posting that they've just crossed the border with no more security than usual.

They'd be bloody idiots to kick off in Switzerland when you think that every native whose done their national service has a gun.

Not really. There's been two arrests in Geneva and a car found with traces of explosives in it. This is serious information they're acting upon, but the Swiss are loathe to be seen as reacting in the way Belgium did.

Having said that, my train home from Zurich city centre last night had security guards and police in every carriage checking under the seats.

Only a quarter of the population (and falling) have guns, and most of those wouldn't have any ammunition to go with it. Nor do they carry them around with them.

I don't think the Swiss civilian population are much more of a threat to terrorists than any other country!
