Family self catering near London? Any ideas please?

I would love to visit London for a week or part of a week from 22nd October. I have a partner and three children so a hotel is out of the question as by the time we book two rooms the bill would soon add up! Does anyone know of any self catering accommodation within about a forty minute commute of central London which they can recommend? I am travelling from Devon so would prefer to be in Surrey, Berks, etc rather than Kent. Any ideas welcome, as I would consider anything inc static caravans.:money:
