Define trouble.
Paypal may or may not pursue legal recovery of the debt.
P.S. Not sure how you can say that "customer lied and claimed they did not receive goods". If there was proof that they had received the goods, then your friend would not be in this predicament.0 -

I assume that a £300 item was sent tracked if so what does the tracking say?
As for the debt, paypal will bluster and obviously close the account pending repayment, and will appoint debt collectors. However I don't believe anyone has yet reported being taken to court and receiving a CCJ, but your friend will need to be vigilant and get advice about the limits on what a debt collector can and can't do.
Obviously as well that's the end of ebay for your friend, plus any person who uses an account that can be associated. So if you have logged in at your friends ip address for instance or have the same address then your own account is at risk.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. No your friend will get a load of letters and phone calls, all of which try to make your friend cough up and they will make all sorts of threats, but they don't actually have a legal leg to stand on and will just give up.
Keep your money, keep your nerve, but accept that your ebay/paypal account is toast."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

not exactly sure that's true0 -
Op is in Littleton, Colorado, asking questions on a UK forum.
Financial laws are different between our countries, so op should really be best advised to ask this question in their own country.0 -

Well spotted, I missed that.
In that case I suggest we don't waste any more time on this- and advise the OP to seek advice in the US.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
