Ooh, double the salary would be brilliant! Fingers crossed for you.

Re: snacking, I've found fruit-y herbal tea to help me at work. What I want (chocolate/crisps) isn't available, and the tea tastes different (from the usual need-to-wake-up morning ones) and vaguely sweet enough that I can trick myself into it being a "treat".

I also play the "well, I'll have this tea and then wait until X o'clock and see if I still want that chocolate" game. My rule is that if I'm actually looking at the clock at X o'clock and going "oh good, now I want chocolate" then I can seriously consider going and getting one. If I don't notice the time and it's 20 past, then clearly I didn't want chocolate that badly. ;)

I do want to stock up on a bar or two of good quality dark chocolate, though - I find I can't eat more than a small piece or two at once so I imagine a bar would last me quite a while and still be something exotic/interesting when I'm restless at work.

    Go shopping :rotfl:.

Noooo! The exact opposite! Pay debt/get house sorted & invest. Apart from new work clothes, if necessary (potential new work place is more formal than my current one and my current clothes would not fit in).

    Or do you mean these?!

Cute, but reproduce too quickly and need feeding! :D

Seriously, good luck and hope the studying is going well :)

No it is not. Can't seem to inspire myself! :(

Not quite, but near enough to still make me :D!

Sensible advice! I have fruity teas at home so I will bring some of them to work. Part of the issues is the weird hours I work meaning I effectively miss one meal a day at work.

Right, so yesterday was a NSD where I spent my time not studying but getting my sheet together as the house was a mess and I couldn't focuy. Today is shaping up to be another, but I have been *very* bad and got no studying done so far.

I have no excuses and need to get my presentation sorted at the very least today.

Kick me up the bum if I have not done it by the end of the day.

Oh, forgot to mention, I have been considering the mid-term financial future and an emergency safety net so I decided to open a 0% credit card. My old one is no longer at 0% and although I have not used it for a long time if I ever need to it is not advantageous to me.

I opened a card. Bearing in mind my fairly tiny wages and the face that my old one has a £2k credit limit (don't worry - it will be getting cancelled as soon as the new one comes through) they gave me a £5k limit straight away!

I thought that the companies were supposed to be more responsible nowadays? That's a a combined credit limit of very nearly half my annual income!

  • New update: £11.53 on study snacks and discounted washing up tablets (3 packs of 34 tablets from a well-known brand that should have been £8.00 each down to half price) on sale in my local supermarket.

So partially :money: and partially not: the snacks are not strictly necessary but I think they might be for my mental health, TBH, and a shrink would be more expensive so I've yet to figure out if that would be good or bad. Also, :money: as the washing machine tablets are, I already have quite a stock in but since I just finished a pack they were playing on my mind so do they *really* count as :money: or just a bit hoard-y?!

Also, repaid £200.00 more debt. Unexpected, but necessary.

  • Confession time: I have a little chart I can colour in every time I pay back £50.

I've just gone into my account and transferred an extra £1.00 so that I can colour in another block! :rotfl::o ;)

  • That chart will be a big help PB! Mine is arranged to look like a picture of a house, and has been more motivating than numbers on a spreadsheet could ever be! :D

We find the L1dl washing tablets up to the job. Often on sale @ £2.09 for 36 (we just use 1 tablet per wash, maybe a tbsp of soda crystals or a scoop of V@nish if DD is particularly ill or messy!) We no longer use fabric softener.

Thats a good price, Ed! I use Sainsbo all in one, £3 for 30 - the next town along my rail line has a Lidl, and a Wilko, so planned trips could be a good saving.

PB - charts you can colour in are definitely a good thing and I've used them too :)

I'd probably wait 'til they have one of their '£5 off £30' or similar offers in one of the tabloids and take a shopping trolley, you could pick up 15 boxes for just over £26! Now that would be a zombie apocalypse worthy stash :rotfl:

Mine now has pride of place on the fridge! :) My aim is to get to the end of each line as soon as possible!

Goshdarn you all, you've really knocked the shine off my bargains! (See what I did there?! ;)) You are right. I got blinded by bargain fever. They weren't so much of a bargain, especially as I remember someone recommended Magnum ones from Ald1. (Lid1 not so near, here.)

I'm going to return them. I bought the wrong ones by accident for a friend. ;) And then I'm going to run every potential new 'bargain' by you guys first as you will clearly save me a fortune! :rotfl:

Ed, you do know that white vinegar is a very good fabric softener substitute? It doesn't make your clothes smell (although if you wash at high temperatures you can sometimes smell it while it's washing, but don't worry). If you want a nice smell, you can add a few drops of essential oil. What it's really good for is getting the last of the washing powder out of the clothes, which might by useful for you in particular if your sensitive wee nipper has sensitive skin.

Now that's advanced bargain hunting! :T

Right, got to get on with the studying. Have done beggar all and have about two weeks left!
