People sometimes say, avoid buying electrical items on ebay from China, as although they might be cheaper, then they might have defects (compared to buying it in the (UK)
For example, buying a electrical item on ebay from China which is cheaper from there, might have problems when it arrives.
For purchasing a double Jack phono wire cable (see photo below)
It will be plugged between the Smartphone and Hifi.
Would it be fine to buy this Phono wire from China, (Make Jack phone to Jack Phono) from China,

or can buying this item have defects too, and damage any equipment? damage the phone?
Have you had experience with Cheap electrical items from ebay, purchasing from Asian countries ??

Those cables might not be the best quality, but should be safe to use. The dangers come when mains voltages are used without fuses, proper shielding, etc.0

Just go to Maplin

No need to buy such a thing from China.

used to buy all my leads from china but now UK ebay sellers are buying in bulk so its only 10p-50p dearer now to buy from UK"If I know I'm going crazy, I must not be insane"0

The other risk is that it could take a long time to arrive. For something as low value as this, I'd filter for 'UK Only' on eBay, or buy on the High Street. If there's more money to be saved I might be more happy to wait. And yes, there are far too many connections on those jack plugs to just be stereo audio connectors.
That Maplin one will do nicely unless there's a specific length you need.0 -
The 4 pin ones are usually for sockets that combine headphone out + a mic in so you can use a headset. Lots are actually like that without it being pointed out in the specs. Many tablets and phones come with earbuds so you could checkout what type were supplied.
In the main something fitted with a 3 pin stereo plug will work in both 3 and 4 pin sockets so often people simply aren't aware that theirs is actually 4 pin.0 -
For something so small, I concur with those above - Maplin, B&Q, Homebase, Curry/PC World, your local HiFi Dealer, Richer Sounds, etc etc - or Amazon.
And you probably only need a stereo lead (three metal rings on the plug, not four)
£1.40 from Amazon
