British gas dual usage deal accepted - then they transfer gas supply to new provider

GOOD ADVICE NEEDED PLEASE
BRITISH GAS SWITCHING ME TO A DIFFERENT SUPPLIER TO AVOID DISCOUNT DEAL?????

I recently qualified for a dual energy provision discount with British Gas However within 2 weeks of this qualification I was contacted by BG who said they were going to transfer me to a new Gas Supplier (Energy Extra)
Today I received contact they are to be my new gas supplier
Here are my concern and salient points I would like answered but I think I have consumer rights and should be consulted and they should need my acceptance / agreement
1.Do I have a choice to change supplier or not?
2. Do they not need my agreement and acceptance?
3. Could I stay with you as BG as my supplier?
4 Will the new company you are moving me to without my consultation or agreement, be obliged to honour the discount prices for the duration of the discount period BG stated?
5. It seems odd and suspicious that after little or no contact with your British Gas, that as soon as I qualify for a discount deal – that they elect without consultation or agreement to transfer my supplier.

I would appreciate your thoughts

Thanks

You can object to the change.

Have you been with BG for a while or did you switch to them? This is pretty strange as they won't give up customers like that.

Have you been looking about? It's not beyond companies to switch you after speaking to you even though you didn't agree to it. maybe BG have been told you want to switch.

It sounds like an erroneous transfer - in other words just a mistake.

Phone BG and explain you have never requested another company to take over your supply and wish to remain on your existing tariff with BG. Make sure to get a response from them in writing e.g. by email, or follow up your telephone call with an email confirming the details of the call. (Unfortunately erroneous transfers can take a long time to sort out so it is important you keep evidence of what is said. However the end result should be that you are put into the same position as you would be in had the erroneous transfer never happened.)

If BG give some other reason for the transfer post their response on this thread.
