Child & Co - "Premium Account"

OK, so this is strange. I've seen a few people post photos of their Child & Co (i.e. RBS but at the Fleet Street branch) cheque books, but I've just had mine through and it seems a little different, in that it says "Premium Account" on it.

Now, I've not signed up to a fee-paying account, just a simple £0/month Select account.

Any ideas? Am I special?

    That's an odd one indeed.

Bit of a strange addition since its a select account at the end of the day. I've had my Child & Co account since 2012 so I have the old cheque book. I'm guessing its just a new bit of branding, but at the end of the day someone has sat there and felt the need to add it to the book so no idea haha.

I'm guessing your sort code it 158000 ?

It's the 'all fur coat and no knickers' account.

Fancyish debit card and cheque book but it's still mediocre RBS underneath.

  • My Child cheque book says the same thing.....
  • I should think its just a design change. They adjusted their card design recently.

For all intensive purposes, its no longer possible to open a Child account, unless you go to branch, if you apply online (its been removed from RBS site), you will be assigned as a standard RBS customer.

They are putting a stop to new Child accounts, the more we talk about it the more they will put a stop to! We won't even be able to open it in branch then.;)
  • Why would anyone want this? No interest for a start. No joining incentive....

Ohh unless you are using it as an account you can switch from to get an incentive?

I only applied as I just liked the look of the debit card and fancy cheques. Totally irrational on this site, I know.....

I opened a Child&Co account this week. Selected the 15-80-00 sort code at the 1 Fleet Street branch online. Child&Co branded card arrived today stuck to RBS Private Bank headed paper.

I feel all wealthy and posh when infact I'm brassic :p

I ditched my account, I found it hard to use the card as people looked at you like you were a p*ick.

Child and Co contact customers they want to give a personal manager, they did not contact me in nearly two years, so obviously they don't want me. :D

I really am complexed as to why RBS are keeping this brand going, I mean its great for us plebs, but is it really making them any money. They should advertise the brand, they would get a lot of customers in London.
