my 5 year old jack russell who was a rescue suffers from luxating patella. the vet tells me it is common in jack russell's and that at the moment it isnt anything to be worried about, however he did say that as she gets older arthritis may be a problem or even surgery on the patella.
so i'm interested in getting her on some sort of suppliment. I have tried cod liver oil but i think it may disagree with her as she seems to scratch alot whenever i use it.
so does anyone else have a dog with this and do you use any suppliments?

It won't fitx the luxating patella, but it will help with any inflammation and resulting arthritis - golden paste, made with turmeric.
Join the Facebook group "Turmeric User Group" for more info. You basically make a paste up with turmeric powder (certain brands - you need a minimum circumin content for it to be effective), coconut oil and freshly ground black pepper, and you give several small doses of this a day.
My Rottie x is on it for arthritis in her shoulder and it's like she's got nothing wrong with her nowIt's also helped a lot with her recent cruciate surgery I think - the vets are amazed at her progress already.

Joly, one of my cavaliers, has had slipping patellae since he was quite young. The vet noted this and always checks his back legs , but said that as Joly, doesn't limp, action may not be needed.
He is now 12 and has only ever limped on his front legs, after lying still for a long time. That was two years ago and apart from not going upstairs or jumping on chairs, he's fine. ( He stopped the jumping up when he was castrated, so it may be a case of being wary).
For the last two years he has been on a daily Yumove tablet, as the vet agreed that trying a glucosamine/chondroitin product could be beneficial at his age. He's had no more stiffness, so he can have them for as long as he pleases.0
