    Hi OP as already mentioned, if deductions bring your pay below NMW, the that's illegal.

    Does it mention it in your contract?

    I would put in writing that as previously asked, you require equipment so that fakes can be quickly spotted, and until this equipment and training is provided, then it would be unjust (perhaps unlawful) to make such deductions.

    There are some very good fakes out there, so personally I wouldnt have a clue how to spot them!

    No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

    if the tills aren't down, it could easily be an employee flogging their stash.

    they can't deduct your pay. if they have, you need to take legal action.

    I'm not an expert so feel free to correct me, but I think I read that (Ignoring the below NMW etc) they cannot enforce this unless you operate your own til which is cashed in and cashed out properly with no interference from anyone else
