PPI claim without any account details... is it possible?!

I'm new to this forum so apologies if this seems stupid.... but....

I do not believe I have EVER had PPI.... But I also know there are thousands of people who thought the same thing and were wrong!... I've never had any loans, but have had some credit cards, although all applied for online rather than mis-sold in a bank?

All of those credit card account have been closed for some time and I no longer have any details of account numbers etc..... Can I still claim without being able to provide any details other than my name and address?! (I would obviously prefer to do this myself too rather than via a claim company who will charge a fortune on the off chance that I was mis-sold at some point).... any advice much appreciated.... thanks....

It depends on how long ago this is. If it is recent history then most firms can find you with name, address and date of birth.

The further back in time you go then it becomes harder as records at the firm get destroyed or archived under account numbers and not able to be found with account name or address.

So, no-one actually mis-sold you PPI then as no-one else was involved. The choice on online applications is to either buy it or not buy it. A choice you make.

What would your complaint be about if you bought it online?
Remember that there is nothing wrong with having PPI. The whole issue is whether it was sold correctly to you or not.

A CMC will not have your data as it is not in the public domain. There is nothing a CMC can do for you that you cannot do yourself. They use the same free of charge complaints process you would use. They just charge you for it.
