  • Does the dish work OK with another Sky box?

If so, try reloading the software. This has worked or me when I've had the same symptoms
    See http://www.satcure.com/digifaq2.htm#backup

Also, you may find you can't Channel 4 and five. Leave the card in the box for a day or two and you should find they come up.

  • No you won't need to connect it to a phone line.

It sounds very much like it has been disconnected for a long period and missed Sky software updates, if a forced update doesn't work, you will need to leave it connected to the dish and either on or in standby mode.

This can take days/weeks or even months with certain models.

    It will auto update eventually.;)

Let us know the software version, found in the menu.
  • hi thanks for that ,its a grundig(sigh),but i got it cheap(20 bob),unfortunately no remote,i just bought it for my father in law who has a old,old tv and he was worried about not getting tv when they switch off analogue,so i thought that this would do the trick...
