Putting Amex in credit using balance transfer

Hi, I'm looking to transfer a balance from my Barclaycard to my Amex Platinum. My Amex only has a £1500 limit but I need to make a large (£5000) purchase. Can someone please tell me if it is possible to transfer the £5000 from Barclaycard to Amex, putting it temporarily in credit?

It may be possible, but it's possible that they will return the excess funds and/or close the account, as it's against the terms of your agreement.

But don't you mean transferring a balance from the Amex to the Barclaycard? If you transfer a balance from the Bcard, you'd have even less of a limit on the Amex. In fact, you'd go overlimit.

Thanks for your reply. Sorry yes you're correct, I meant from Amex to Barclaycard, but initiated from the Barclaycard website.

Just wondering if anyone has done this successfully.

Last time, i checked with AMEX about the balance transfer they completely refused.

So check with their customer service first
