Its been a weird kind of day, one of mixed emotions. I usually work split shifts 6 days a week and work on average 54 hours a week. I havent had to go back to work tonight and ive managed to sit down and enjoy a lovely home cooked meal with my family, which is something I only get to do once a week. I miss it, I miss family time I miss my family and I miss my friends. My house needs a bloody good clean and I dont know where to start and its getting me down. I need to find a home/work balance.
When I first started my job 7 months ago it was as a kitchen assistant 16 hours a week which suited me but as the months have gone by chefs have come and gone and now I find myself running the kitchen on my own, no chef, no one helping do the prep just me on my own in a bistro that seats 50. Even though I now have more responsibility and a lot more work, my hourly rate has stayed the same. I guess im fed up with building someone elses dream whilst missing out on so much.
I need an action plan before I run myself, my family and my home into the ground. Im tired and fed up!:(total debt at LBM £4800

Been thinking long and hard and I hope I have come up with a solution that will make me happier (i hope)
Ideally I would like to reduce my hours at work. In an ideal world I would like to work 5 days a week which means giving up 8 1/2 hours but dont think that will be possible at the moment but it is something to work towards. I shall talk to my boss tomorrow and see what he says. Although this means a drop in income it still means I will be debt free Dec 2016 so a couple more months wont really hurt and im hoping that by staying at home 2 days a week I can get the food bill down as I will be more organised so the kids wont be buying take outs. Its gonna be hard but do able.
Kids - 2 out of 3 kids work so I think it is time they put their hands in their pockets and pay some housekeeping.........Im thinking they can pay the electric bill each month.....I think thats reasonable!
Housework - I aim to do 1 hour at least of housework per day. I will get up an hour earlier and go to bed an hour earlier...........It needs to be done. Youngest son can walk the dog in the evening saving me 3/4 hour of my time which can be used doing something constructive.
Home - needs decluttering. I aim to get rid of the clutter and lead a clutter free life by December 2016. Anything worth selling I will list on ebay and hopefully make a few extra pennies for the emergency fund.
I think thats enough to be going on with but to keep me focussed I may follow the flylady posts over on the old style board. It will help keep me focussed.total debt at LBM £4800

OK Ive been over to the old style boards and have got the flylady list for tomorrow. I probably wont get much done on it but anything is better than nothing.
Monday - a bit of everything!
Level 1
Rehoming - find a convenient spot and gather up all the new and existing items that need a home. Spend 10 min sorting into piles according to which room they will go to. Maybe pop them in old carrier bags and enlist some help to "deliver" them to the right homes!
Level 2
Dust and deweb all through downstairs
Sweep or vac too
[STRIKE]Tidy your tree or xmas decs - are all the chocs eaten? Can you dust around / under?[/STRIKE] didnt put a tree up and cards have come down this evening. Bah humbug!
Level 3
Sort through the fridge - any leftovers that need to be binned? What do you need between now and new year?
Wipe down all the kitchen counters and the sink
S&S the downstairs loo / cloak.
Extras
Sort your laundry - get cracking if you want empty baskets by Thursday!
Start the ironing, if you're joining the challenge! Sort it into 4 piles and do the first one!
Treat yourself to something light and healthy for lunch - do you have time for HM soup?total debt at LBM £4800

Hi dreamywings, I hope your boss is OK with you dropping some hours as it can be really tough getting the family/work life balance right.
I think you're doing the right thing wanting the working members of your household to be contributing to the bills, it won't do them any harm to help out. I too suffer from clutter mountain and it really does get you down. I remember pre-children days when I only had to hoover up once a week and I knew that everything would be in the same place I left it!
Good luckNSD January 2/210 -
Feeling down in the dumps today and im full of a cold and got an awful cough. Wednesdays are usually my day off so hopefully no work tomorrow. Not seen the boss since Saturday so not had chance yet to speak to him. The latest wage payment should clear the bank on Thursday but still running almost 3 weeks behind. Once everything is paid I will have £3 to last till Saturday when the child benefit gets paid in. Its beginning to take its toll now and I dont know for how much longer I can afford to be paid late! Ive cancelled all direct debits except the one for stepchange, bills will have to be paid as and when money hits my bank account. Its impossible to budget as I just dont know when im going to be paid next. Kids have this week paid for electric and we have a freezer full of food so we wont starve or go cold but its just so bloody frustrating!total debt at LBM £4800
