    Left my Kindle on a plane recently. The airline's lost property people were helpful, but I didn't get it back.

    You'll probably have to chalk this up to experience.

    The OP doesn't say if he has but that's his best (only) bet.

    I always try to put anything I buy into my hand luggage so I've just got my one bag to look after.

    Some credit cards do provide insurance cover against loss or damage for purchases using them. It might be worth checking whether your card includes this feature.

    Hardly any do this now, it's a benefit that has been significantly eroded in recent years. It is worth checking but I don't think the OP should get their hopes up.
