Diesel Receipts

Like most companies, coming up to Christmas, my OH's business is very busy. I help out as much as I can, both in the shop itself but also with making deliveries.
Throughout the year its no big deal, but in December, it can run into about an extra £100.
I'm not looking repaid for this but just wondered would it be of any benefit to him if I put in diesel receipts?

I think that, depending on his VAT registration situation he could claim back a little bit of VAT on them...
Also, if you are using your own car to do this, you could claim back the tax on 45p per mile up to 10,000 miles, 25p thereafter through self-assessment if you are an employee of the firm.“And all shall be well. And all shall be well. And all manner of things shall be exceeding well.”

If he pays for the diesel he may be able to claim it as a business expense. Does your car insurance cover you when making deliveries?.0

Thanks for the replies, never really thought of the insurance to be honest, they are all small local journeys but with quite a few every day, they soon add up.
Unfortunately, not an employee of the company, just a general dogsbody that helps out when things are busy.

Most people use the 45p/mile and keep track of the business mileage where a car used for both private and business use. I suppose if you fill it up with diesel and use it entirely for business you could use the receipt, but the cost of running a vehicle is more than the fuel cost.0

I think you can only use the receipts if it is a company car, however, you could/should(?) be able to claim the mileage at 45p a mile, however make sure you keep track of it. Also if it is glaringly obvious that it is for deliveries and you need to claim then they will not payout as you are probably on Social and commuting insurance, but you could try to swing that you are delivering christmas presents to friends/family? (Obviously i hope nothing happens and you dont need to claim
