pipes go up chimney??

Just opened up the fireplace so a double sided (open to lounge and kitchen) log burner can be installed. Found central heating pipe, probably two, which will now be exposed to the lower fireplace cavity. (Sorry title over states it but can't see how to edit it). So my question is are there dangers of having central heating…

Well many thanks all for your contributions. The pipes are now two brick layers, some cement with heat shield, and 10 cms of cavity away from heat source.

And we can touch the pipes as the kitchen is yet to be replastered/tiled/whatever so can monitor their temperature as the burner is gradually bought into action after 7 days of drying out time

Have a very merry Xmas and happy new year while I'll relax in front of my new burner with greater confidence. :beer:
