    Personally i wouldn't act as a guarantor for anyone for anything.

    Remember if you act as a guarantor then you could be liable for thousands of pounds if your friend is unable to pay.

  • I know - this is a saga that has been going on for years, bottom line I will not allow my friend to become homeless and being his guarantor is the only way to prevent that - I'm just trying to minimise the risk now not to avoid it altogether.

    You are being a willing fool. Its completely out of your control. The situation between your (1) friend the (2) DWP and the (3) substantial knock-on benefits are completely out of your control. One foot wrong with the DWP and the whole financing of your friend stops immediately .. .. instantly. Everything then stops and stays stopped until your out of control friend is compliant with the DWP. Best of luck to you !
