Historic non claim

Hi all. I am hoping there is someone on here who can shed light on a situation as I am totally baffled! I will explain....
I borrowed my mums car back in August and luckily got it insured on a temp cover basis for that day. Typically I had a bump. I reversed into a 4x4 with bull bars I was driving a focus so I came off considerably worse. The other driver luckily didn't have a scratch. I still gave him my details and we went on our way. I made the call to the insurers through tempcover (Haven) and I explained the situation I wanted to make a record of it just in case the other driver made a claim. It was bank holiday weekend so they said would receive a call in a few days.
So during this time my mum and I decided I would pay for the damage so to save my no claims etc. So I paid out and informed the insurance company I would not be going ahead with the claim.
So today I came home to find a hand delivered letter on the mat from a company acting on behalf of Haven. I called them and asked what they wanted. They wanted another statement from me as to what happened. The other driver hasn't come forward so it wasn't to do with that. They said I will have a visit and a chat with one of their people. Eh?! I informed them that I had not made a claim and that as far as I was concerned the matter was closed.
So? Does anyone why I had this letter? Why do I need to make a statement? Why does someone want to come and talk to me?
I have emailed Haven to ask why etc I await their reply......
Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks.

No-one here can possibly know what has caused this.
But ensure this is bona fide, and don't agree to a meeting without knowing what this is about.
(It is possible that a claim has now arisen (maybe injury) and this person is actually representing the third party and not your insurer at all!)0 -
Thanks for the reply. As to no-one on here possibly knowing I thought it was worth a try. I cannot believe that I am the only person on here to have experienced anything like this- it is just so me!
I established over the phone yesterday that the other party in fact hadn't claimed. The letter was issued purely on behalf of the company I had used for insuring the car. They must have their wires crossed. The claim was not pursued so case should be closed. Weird! As my original post suggested I am baffled. I will await a reply from the email I sent. It sounds iffy to me.0 -
When you have presented the potential claim it sounds like they have looked at all your details, found something interesting / wrong / contradictive and want to chat to you about it.All your base are belong to us.0

The original call was to log the incident on the day it happened just in case of any comeback from the third party and thank goodness I did. I called through to the insurers this morning who claimed they had been trying to contact me over the last 3 months to continue the claim.
The operator originally said the third party had "possibly'' made a claim and he needed me to go over the details again. I said possibly? Have they or haven't they? He said they had. I was now thinking the cheeky so and so's claim for what?! So I explained that I had photographic evidence etc and said again that my Mums car had been fixed and that I was confused to why this had taken until now to come to light.
He looked through my case notes and said a call was made 4 days after the incident was that me who had made the call? I said yes! To abort the claim! He then said OK that's fine the case is now closed. The other party HAD NOT claimed and they had left the case open for 3 months just in case any further claims were made and now it was finished.
Why the fraud company letter? Why say the other party had claimed when they hadn't? What on earth was going on? I am now waiting for a letter from Haven saying the case is closed.
Still baffled still utterly baffled! Is this the norm? If it is,well its just ridiculous! A*s and elbow come to mind!0 -
Insurance companies struggle to find their bums with both hands, nothing irregular here.0
