New DD on Santander 123 not showing

I just opened a joint 123 acc to go with our two single 123 accounts and one of the DDs I set up was for Vodafone.

The correct payment details are showing on Vodafone but not showing as a DD against the new 123 account on my Santander online banking.

Santander advise it will probably only show when Vodafone take the first new payment from this account, but that is over a month now so although I have the £500 paid in and another DD showing against this 123 account, I'll miss interest this month.

I know I could set up another DD, but has anyone experienced the above situation?

TIA

Vigman

Vodafone are said to be notoriously hopeless with DD changes. Apart from missing interest on your 123, you might also get into trouble with Vodafone when they don't take your payment....

I know this isn't helping much but it's all I can say

Thanks for the quick reply. I had been worried about this when moving other DDs but they had all shown up immediately.

Even one which is to be taken nearly 11 months from now showed up immediately.

On my online account, the Vodafone payment details are showing the new DD but it did/does worry me that this is not showing against the 123 account

If Vodafone reps are reading, I would appreciate contact.

On a larger scale, this is what worries me about 'ditch and switch' especially gas and electricity. Nothing is ever as smooth as Martin always seems to think they will be and I can see issues of double payments or service loss threats as the companies screw up the paperwork. Then the hours of frustration holding on to help lines......

    TIA

If you use the official switch service, you don't need to worry really, as you can't suffer financially. You still have the hassle of having to check but in reality, the vast majority of switches go very smoothly.

If you do multi-accounting, I would still keep all my "real" DDs against one single account, and set up "special" DDs for any additional accounts that need DDs.

I don't think the official MSE message is that people should engage in multi-accounting, or in serial switch bonus bagging. Most people will not have a need / the money for multi-accounts, and any switches they do will be one-offs.

    Thanks again.

On the Vodafone DD, at least the new details are showing on my Vodafone account. If they have failed to register this correctly with Santander then at least I hope they can't try to take from the old DD and the new one on the next payment. If they fail to get payment on the new DD at least they will have to contact me.

Things would be easier to sort out now if their site was not DOWN AGAIN! (Only signal I get in our area)

On the other 123 accounts I have put small annual DDs but realising that I would actually get money back on a mobile contract DD chose my main mobile account to switch to Santander.

On general ditching and switching, I agree that they are often infrequent transactions, but on TV only yesterday Martin was saying if fuel prices changed after a few months and you aren't on a fixed deal then switch again!

I think it is the spectre of 'if things go wrong' when switching, sorting it out is so frustrating these days especially with major commodities.

Can't even do that as they "are making a few tweaks (to the website) at the moment!"

    Oh, great!!!

How can this be resolved? If the Vodafone 123 DD fails has anyone successfully moved back to the original DD?

I am disabled and have to have continuous service as does my wife whose phone is also paid on this DD!

    TIA

Just go straight to raising a complaint with Vodafone? It's what I would do if I were you. Do it in writing, so you got a record.

FYI I set up a DD for Equitalk on the Santander account (to make sure I have the two for the interest) and it appeared almost immediately in the list of Santander DDs. Obviously Vodafone at fault.

Update: Sarbeet assures this has now been rectified via chat and for some technical reason cannot give me the finance department address!!
