Our son gave us an ipod which we have had in the car for some years now.
I would like to listen to it in the house but don't have anything to attach it to. I know I am a complete numbskull here, but I don't know what I am supposed to buy.
It has a lead that goes in the ipod then into the car socket but I am guessing, could be wrong of course, this is no good for in the home.
Basically I need some sort of lead and some sort of power supply.
Any advice greatly received.

You don't say which model of iPod you have but you need an iPod dock. Either a stand alone unit with speakers or one that connects to the Aux in on an existing system if you have one.
Google iPod docking station. There are some examples of what's available on here.

If you've had it some time now you need to look at a docking station with the 30 Pin connector.
As at the PP says one with an AUX in facility. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
I guess you've got a lead that goes from the headphone socket (3.5mm jack) on the iPod, to an 'aux in' port on your car's stereo. This lead could be perfectly good in the house, but it depends what equipment you have there.
You may have a stereo with that same aux in. You may have something with phono (red and white) plugs at the back - unless this is an input for the record player, you can get a 3.5mm to phono cable and plug it in that way.
Or you can get a dock which would be a better, but more expensive solution.0 -
I have now decided to buy a dock as suggested.
My next challenge is to remove all the Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash which my husband enjoys. For some reason I cannot create a play list so the only way to listen to it in the car was just keep manually moving it on to avoid CB EP & JC. I want to put all DHs music on the PC then get him his own ipod and copy them on there.
A challenge for me as I say0 -
iTunes is in charge of music. All your music should be on the computer, in iTunes. Then you plug a slave device in (the iPod) and you can either sync everything to it, or just a selection. Making a playlist called 'iPod' and putting what you want on it, in there, is a handy way to do it. You can have other playlists as well that you can choose to sync to the iPod.0

Got a horrible feeling the itunes stuff was on the old computer as I tried to find it but had no luck.0 -
