Is this yet another scam?

Hi,

I'm pretty new to ebaying and today I came across an item that I have my doubts about. It's a so-called business idea whereby you make loads of money from your digital camera. There are lots of these for sale and the description starts with "I am a Mum of 3", yet further down says "I am the bloke who".

Am I reading this incorrectly or do others think it's a con? If not, I'm otherwise intrigued...

The Item is:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=98872&item=6396150436

The Seller is:
http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=kempy30&iid=6396150436&frm=284

I've been reading other posts on this forum and the general consensus is that a lot of positive feedback is a sign of a scammer? Is this so? A friend of mine is an avid e-bay buyer (has never sold items himself) and has had a 100% feedback from virtually everyone he's ever bought from. I'm not sure what to think?

  • anything that is said to be easy money is likely to be a scam.

they are making money selling the e-book, they probably don't even use the scheme.

Good point...if they are making so much money from the camera, surely they would want to keep the idea secret and wouldn't need to sell it?

    I don't think I'll be buying it...

Catseyez, 100% good feedback usually denotes a good seller, not a scammer. The thing is with feedback is to not just take it at face value, look at what it actually says. If a person has been selling £1.99 books and has 100% positive feedback but suddenly lists £3000 plasma screens with no paypal and a 'contact me' email address then the account has probably been hacked.

In this case the seller has only 98.5 % positive feeedback which is actually quite poor and even some of the positive comments are not really encouraging.

Personally I tend to avoiud all these get rich quick schemes.

yep very dodgy, has got good feedback but if u read it nobody has actualy got it to work

(Will give it a go, hope it works ,i will give it a go and fingers crossed , interesting idea , Going To Give it Some Thought, etc etc)

nobody has left feedback mentioning anything about making money.i would like to bet none of these have made anything out of this.

have seen many of these money making schemes, they never work or they would just keep it to themselves(i know i would)

A good question to ask yourself is if you saw this advertised anywhere else would you even think of going for it?

It seems that a lot of people would see this as a scam if it were advertised elsewhere, but when it is on eBay they are not so sure.

It does seem like a scam to me - or at the very least you could probably find the info on the internet for free.

The good feedback (as Soolin rightly said) is in general a good indicator of a trusted seller, but it's the the comments which should give away and oddities.

Well just found it for 99p!

I really dont know why people put quotes in an ebay auction, if a isee a qoute i just google it and usually get it a lot cheaper if not free!

I wont be buying this as it sounds like a scam.

What are the rules on selling these ebooks, I thought the seller had to have actually written the content themselves, and state this clearly in the auction.

Also I'm sure that if you were to check through the feedback you would find that this item was bought and then resold, yet more crap information.
  • Scam What about this one then?? how do they get away with it ??

Well, it does say quite clearly that it is just a link to a website that tells you where to get the phone for £20. So that means it is one of those matrix scam sites.

Scams only work while people allow themselves to be scammed. yes this is worth reporting to ebay, it does contravene a couple of listing rules but really shouldn't bidders take some responsibility for actually reading the auctions and knowing what they are bidding on?
