Windows 10. Making Firefox default browser.

Interesting one this. Upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. Everything works (quite amazed at this), but when I try to make FF default browser, Windows opens a settings screen and on this is a simple 'set your default browser' section.
Trouble is, the drop-down list only shows Internet Explorer and Opera.
It dosn't show Firefox even though it has been on the computer from day 1.
Is there any way to cure this without having to re-install Firefox?.

When FF opens-up, it asks if you want to make it the default browser. I click on the 'yes' button and it opens the appropriate settings screen but FF is not showing in the drop-down list for browsers.
I have a feeling that Windows 10 failed to pick it up when upgrading from Windows 8.1. I have no wish to re-install FF unless absolutley neccessary.Never Knowingly Understood.

Re-installing won't(shouldn't) cause any problems , but just in case Windows 10 calls me a liar, it would be prudent to copy your C:\Users\your-username\AppData\Mozilla first so you don't lose owt.
But first read this https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2015/07/29/firefox-for-windows-10-how-to-restore-or-choose-firefox-as-your-default-browser/ see if that makes a difference, mine is already set as FF so I can't comment4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Firstly, stop using that word 'upgrade' when you mean 'change'
On the only W10 set up I've done, I installed G Chrome as the default browser and it worked fine.
The only issue I had was that after removing (?) Cortina, or whatever it's called, I then had a 'search' box on the taskbar. When I used this to connect to t'internet, it opened Chrome but insisted on using Bing as it's search page.
I quick google suggested that Chrome needed an add-on (to 'force' it to use Google instead of Bing) which I installed, but still it went to Bing.
As it wasn't for me, I left it be, but was bemused that it didn't do what I wanted.0 -

That search box will always use Bing. If you don't want to use Bing open your browser and go to your search engine of choice and do the search. This behaviour happens no matter what browser you use.
No it doesn't if you have downloaded the appropriate extension for Chrome which is called Bing2Google0 -
Since Firefox 40 (now on 42.0) it has redirected both the search and Cortana to whatever your default search engine is in Firefox.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you
