  • Thanks for adding me to the group - glad I found this challenge, I've been overpaying since getting my first mortgage in 2012 but looking forward to making it move a bit quicker with this incentive!

I see some folks have diaries - are these personal logs of how they're getting on in their various challenges?

Also, can I subscribe to this thread to be alerted when new posts are made? Can't see an obvious button for it!

    Thanks in advance :)

Hello and welcome. At the top of the page just above the fist post there should be a little button that says 'subscribe to thread' in between 'post reply' and 'thread tools'.
    Hope this helps

Hmmm, I think I must need to view it on my laptop; on a tablet at the moment and there's nothing there! Will check later on. Thank you!

Or when you add a reply scroll down below the first "submit reply" button and in additional options use the thread subscription section to add how you want to be notified and then submit reply as normal.

So just over £1,000000/year that is going to be payed back, seems such a huge amount :)

  • Hello fellow savers! Hopefully joining this group can help me concentrate on hopefully paying off my mortgage ober the next 3 uears - fingers crossed.
  • Welcome Anna! I'm sure we'll all keep each other motivated and encouraged. Have you checked out the rest of the MFW board? There are some really inspirational diaries in there.
  • Well, let the adventure begin!

I calculated my total net worth yesterday and will use this as a baseline for my savings.
I will track the amount with YNAB - so that should be easy to do, it will practically do itself!
That way, whether I am saving, or paying off the card, it will still count towards the 30k, it's all about the total net worth today compared to in three months time! Ideally, of course, I would have no debt, but for the sake of a couple of months, I wasn't going to not take part in this challenge. Motivation!!!!

I'm also going to use my TSB current account card for groceries and small spends, as that will mean that I get 5% cash back on all contact less payments. My Aldi allows those, though Sainsb doesn't. Perhaps one more reason to shop at Aldi and ditch Sb! ;)
Im waiting for a Quidco payment to clear, which will be a little bit extra, and I should have some money from interest on my savings. Every little helps.
