Quote for Painting and decorating

This quote is for a 3 bed 2 storey house built in the 1930s.
The property has been put to good use by myself and family {read 2 very active young kids :-) }
I have recently had the lounge and all the bedrooms painted and decorated a couple of years ago. My current issues are with the stairway and kitchen area.
The wallpaper in the stairway and small-ish hallway is coming off . The wallpaper will need removing and then any defects underneath may need rectifying / plastering and then the area would need to be painted.
Secondly around the kitchen walls there are oil splashes/cooking stains on the walls surrounding the gas hob. The kitchen is again small sized 7feet x 10 feet Galley styled. Thus the kitchen would also need to be painted.
I have been quoted 5 days of work by one of the tradesmen.
I have had 2 tradesmen who have come down to quote on the work . The quotes include the materials and labour.
One has come to be at 1050£
Whilst the other is slightly cheaper at 750£.
The chap offering the work at 750£ is offering
1. Staircase - strip wallpaper, prepare and apply 2 coats of emulsion
2. Woodwork - prepare and apply 1 undercoat and 1 gloss coat
3. Kitchen - Prepare and apply 2 coats of emulsion paint.
This property is located in the town of Dorchester in Dorset.
The chap offering the same at 1050£ is offering to charge this "
assuming the walls are sound once the wallpaper is removed.
He states that "the kitchen walls being very grubby this will need some intense cleaning first the hsl walls are showing signs of damp but im hopefull this is just due to the lack of ventilation and will clean of with sugar soap before painting"
"My quote includes magnolua paint for walls damp paint for parts that need it sugar soap to clean walls of cooking spills and when wallpaper is removed . The walls will all need 2 coats of paint".
Any thoughts about how fair any of the two quotes is ?
