in Credit cards
Hi All
So i am newly engaged and saving for the big day.
Me and the OH have been talking and have decided to probably take a credit card to pay for the wedding if we can gain some sought of reward.
We are looking to go to america on a honeymoon and have seen the airmail credit cards. The only issue we have is that they seem not to be 0% on purchases or they are amex cards which we know are not taken everywhere.
Any suggestions would be great
thanks

Forget about collecting airmiles!! You won't have enough miles to do anything (assuming you big day is coming quite soon). Your best option will probably be a decent length 0% purchase card as there won't be any interest while you pay back your large wedding bills!!0

There are indeed several cash back credit cards; see here:

Some cards attract Annual Fees (i.e. American Express, NatWest) or their relevant schemes won't be as generous due to the Interchange Fee cap implemented by the E.U.
*If* you do a lot of shopping/petrol purchases at Tesco you could 'bank' your Clubcard points and use them in the Clubcard Boost promotion that runs from time to time (may help towards your big day). It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
There are several cashback credit cards. A lot of them, like 20aday mentioned, have annual fees. A lot of the cards give you rewards from shopping in supermarkets, petrol and department stores. Probably isn't suited to your situation. The cashback card that probably give you the best freedom is the Amex cashback, which I have, and you can earn cash back when shopping anywhere. Check first if the places you are planning to spend accept it.
Maybe consider cards with reward points?0 -
I'd strongly recommend going for Amex as their cashback/reward rates are superb compared to everything else I've seen.
I'd always steered clear of Amex in the past but finally took the plunge and got my first Amex card a few months ago. Yes, there are a few places that still don't accept but most of the major players do nowadays.
As for the ones that won't - like B&Q - just buy their gift cards from Tesco as a kind of loop-hole (paying by Amex of course!). If you buy the right value of gift cards you will also benefit from bonus clubcard points too!
The Amex website is pretty good too as you can watch your cashback grow.
There's also other benefits:
Recommend a friend (your partner) and get £10 credit ( think) to your accounts - each.
There's also the odd good one-off cash back deals too. This weekend i got a £5 statement credit for spending £10 at Superdrug, and also had a similar perk for spending at Amazon a few weeks back too.0
