Going through with a claim on our car after it was stolen, and have noticed a speeding penalty has been missed off.
Could they stop the claim because of this?
Thanks

Although this offence was in 2011, so was it out of date?0

Yes, they could stop the claim and cancel the policy or they may reduce the amount being paid out to make up for the increase in premium they would have provided if they had the correct details about other drivers for as long as you have been insured with them.Although this offence was in 2011, so was it out of date?
It depends. Some insurers ask for convictions & claims for the last 5 years. Others don't.All your base are belong to us.0 -
If they decide it is intentional non-disclosure they can refuse the claim and keep premiums paid.
If they decide is was accidental non-disclosure then as long as they would have covered you then they will pay out. However, you will have to pay any premium differences.
If they decide it was accidental non disclosure and they wouldn't have covered you had they known then they will refuse to pay out but return your premiums.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Just to add that it goes by the date you take out the policy, not the date of the claim. So if you took out the policy in March, and the points were awarded in April 2011, then you would have needed to declare it.0

I'd inform the insurance company ASAP if I were you.
I was in similar circumstances to you - I had forgotten to update my job mid year and when I called them up to claim due to someone rear-ending me, they asked me my name, address, job etc. When I gave my job her response was "I'm afraid that's not what I've got here..."
I apologised profusely, explained that id changed jobs during the year and that was fine. She just made a note of it, no additional premiums, no cancelled claim.
If it was an accident then it should be fine.0
