Windows 10, no contacts in Mail

So, Iv'e upgraded to windows 10. Synced Mail up with Gmail. I can see my Emails in Mail and my contacts in People, but there are no contacts in Mail.
What goes?

When you select 'New Mail' then begin to type in the 'To' box your contacts pop up ............ So typing 'T', for instance brings up those contacts.

Well obviously that's what I would expect to happen - but it doesnt

That's not what came across in your question.
Go to the People app - Settings - click on an account - change mailbox sync settings - scroll to bottom - make sure Contacts is turned on.

I checked this suggestion:
Go to the People app - Settings - click on an account - change mailbox sync settings - scroll to bottom - make sure Contacts is turned on.
And it was on.

The article linked to seems to be outlook specific. I use Gmail.

I'll continue to use Gmail in a browser until MS make it work.

Mozilla Thunderbird, I use it for all my email.

It checks approx 20 email addresses when it runs.

A few old ones that i used to reply to Nigerian scammers, so that gets a good one every now and them. Mostly pathetic attempts for me to reply.

I did give one scammer a name of P C Plod and the local police station phone number. When we had local stations that had real phone numbers and real policemen.

Maybe they all got rich from some fortune left to them from Mr Jennifer Smith or Mrs Trevor Jones?
