Bait and switch at Amazon . .

Anyone looking for a 3DS for xmas watch out for a naughty little bait and switch on amazon

Search for a "new 3DS XL"

a page comes up offering various options, including a white one for £135

Click white, click buy now with one click, and what arrives a few days later is the standard size 3DS not the XL version.

Live chat to Amazon customer services seem to think that is acceptable . . .

Which is the page for the normal 3DS..

I think the problem here is that the same page has loads of different permeations and has show all the possibilities on the search page..

And to be fair the page you click 'buy' on is for a standard one.. Even the picture shows it as the standard one along with the text.

Yup but easy to miss that missing "xl" when you've been linked to a very similar but different product and you've got an exited 12 year old asking you to order it for him.

very poorly designed page. and now I've got all the hassle of returning a wrong item.

Speak to them in live chat again, they'll refund your postage as a goodwill gesture.

As already said, the search page brings up a list of related results, it is for you to read what you are buying. If you specifically want the XL version, you'd think you'd know to check for that phrase.

It's not bait and switch by any stretch of the imagination.

While the target page is for the standard 3DS, the search page does not just show it as a related result - it shows it as a while 3DS XL.

Not bait and switch, just extremely bad site programming on Amazon's part.
