Cordless Vacuums

Has anyone got one (which one?) and are they any good? We want one to quickly go round the kitchen and living room everyday for 5 minutes at a time. The corded one can then live on the first or second floor. Both rooms are hard floor and it will only be used to pick up very short dog hair, crumbs, dust etc that are generated by kids and dog.
The Dyson is too expensive, as is the GTech, but the others all seem reasonable. Most important is form factor, we live in a new build so anything that is slim can be hidden away easier than a bigger corded vacuum. Plus the kids / dog won't trip over the wire constantly!

My mum has one and she loves it. I think it's a dirt devil. It's really light and so handy and quick to use. I've tried it and it has plenty of suction power but it only lasts about 20 mins (which is fine, really). It charges up again in about the same time. She uses it everyday and hardly ever plugs in the Henry now.
I'd get one myself but I already have a handheld cordless vacuum and it seems a bit extravagant to have an upright cordless as well! Some uprights have a handheld section that detaches and can be used separately so I might get one of those in the future.
Edit: it's a dirt devil handiclean 18V0 -
We have an old, much cheaper Gtech rechargeable, which is 'ok', as in better than the old mechanical carpet sweepers, but our Gtech AirRam is vastly superior. We also have a hand held Hoover brand, that came as a package with our Hoover upright and that is 'ok' to clean crumbs from the car etc.
The AirRam is good, but having long haired dogs, we still prefer the occasional go over with the conventional upright, as that beats the carpet. However, this cleaner would be fine on hard floors.
I think , with these appliances, you get what you pay for.0 -

I bought a robot and am pleased with it, have to take the labels off so they don't obscure vision

We have a vax cordless - its not bad actually and it gets used all the time since there's no faffing about plugging it in. It's better on hard floors but can do carpet although the brush is quite stiff and pulls the fibres out on some carpets. The suction is relitively low too so you might want to keep a corded vacume for deeper cleaning.0

We've just bought the Bosch cordless Athlet, it was £160.99 on Black Friday from IWOOT (it's the bosch advert with the tiger). It's really good, light, easy to operate, very slim. Definitely recommend0

Thanks for the replies, very helpful. That Bosch does look alright, might see what I can get between Xmas and New Year0

I ordered black and decker because my dirt devil finally just died. Firstly found it as a reasonable price pick in a review on bestadvisor.com . This cordless mini shipped immediately and arrived in new condition. I took it out of the box and plugged in and charged for about 24 hours. The battery lasted about 7-10 mins continually before the battery stared to loose power. I love that you can carry this vacuum around and that the hose is detachable so you can clean your blinds, in between couch cushions. Overall I like this vacuum and would definitely recommend to others. works well.0

I bought a Dyson V6 animal 2 weeks ago. I just love it! I wanted something powerful and lightweight as I find the corded Dyson too heavy to take up and down stairs everyday.0
