30th Birthday Holiday in April/May

Hi all,
My parents have very kindly offered to pay for a holiday for my 30th birthday, and I'm struggling to think about where to go.
They have given me a budget of £600-700 for 2 weeks. My OH will be tagging along and paying for himself (I'm debt busting so don't really want to spend more than the budgeted amount)
Any other time I would go to Egypt (Sharm is my favourite place to go) but given the fact airlines aren't flying there at the moment I'm worried about booking and not being able to go.
Any ideas about places to go that will be nice and hot in April/May but are still relatively nice and affordable? Or should I just book Sharm and hope the flights are running by then?
Thanks!

Let’s just pretend I have not been alternately drowning in debt or only eating toast to try and pay it off for the last 20 years 😭

Hi OP,
What board are you looking for? Travel distance? Type of resort?0 -
Hi,
We generally go all inclusive but also eat out at local restaurants while we are there.
Not bothered about travel distance really, anything is fine.
Resort depends on location really. Something with a bit of nightlife, we have been doing adults only recently but that's negotiable.

I picked up a ludicrously inexpensive flight to Thailand for £230 in total. It would have been rude to not accept it. At that pricing level, you can take yourself off to Samui.0

Thanks NiftyDigits, Thailand is on my wishlist but I expected it to be out of price range. is it quite inexpensive once out there then? and do you know if the weather is good in April/May?

Thank you
Just like the weather can vary in different parts of the UK at the same time, so it is in Thailand. Can be dry season on Samui(east coast), whilst raining on Phuket(west coast). Right now in London it is 12 degrees at midnight the second week in December. So who can say?
Notwithstanding, look here
As to affordability, you spend what you can afford. £10 to £15 each per day on accommodation is easily achievable.
Food is almost whatever you want to spend. One plate meals from £1.
The key is finding that cheap flight. To match my price is unlikely, but £300 fares have been seen regularly over the past few months.0 -
Thank you, I'm constantly googling but I'd rather have peoples advice based on their experiences so much appreciated.
Will have a look at flights over the next week or soLet’s just pretend I have not been alternately drowning in debt or only eating toast to try and pay it off for the last 20 years 😭0 -

I'll let you know if I find anything. The only £300 flights at the moment have horribly long stopovers. Flying out of London?0 -
Thank you very much!
Really not too bothered where we fly from, we are in the Midlands but happy to travel if the flight cost is decentLet’s just pretend I have not been alternately drowning in debt or only eating toast to try and pay it off for the last 20 years 😭0 -

Been all over SE Asia [Thailand several times], but until this year never fancied Vietnam.
Went for a month in September, and loved the place. Much better value for money than Thailand.
Stayed in 6 different comfortable and inexpensive hotels. Eating and drinking out is v.cheap. Internal flights also inexpensive, as are taxi, buses and trains. Lovely, forward thinking people.
Flew with Qatar Airways to Saigon via Doha. Excellent Airline, with relatively short connecting times. And because Doha is Qatar Airways hub they'll look after you in the unlikely event of a problem0 -

When you're weighing up the cost, also factor in UK travel costs and whether or not you need overnight airport accommodation before and/or after your flight. It all adds up.0
