Panasonic Digital TV and Video/DVD Players

Can anyone help.
Bought a new digital TV yesterday 26" Panasonic flat screen jobby - lovely
With old TV we had our CCTV set up to come through it and also used a video recorder and a DVD player.
With panasonic we can get the CCTV on AV1 via scart lead to rear of TV and the DVD on AV2 or 3 connecting to the side of the TV.
We cannot get the video to work though - AV2 shows as VCR but we just get a fuzzy, snowy screen. Tried loads of variations of wiring up. Even read the instructions - how desperate is that.
Any experts out there who could help before hubby blows a fuse?
