DM article on fund transparency :

"UK funds are required only to reveal their entire list of investments once a year. ......" Why?
"In the US, funds are required to publish their full list of holdings every three months as a minimum. A minority of companies in the UK, including Woodford Investment Management, publish their lists every month, but this is voluntary.
But how are savers supposed to pick a fund if they don’t know what it is investing in?"
Does your fund report all holdings each month/3 months?
How do IFAs get full lists of fund holdings?

Funds wont normally publicise all holdings. Info on the top 10 holdings is widely available and frequently updated as is data on sector and geography allocation..

All holdings would in my view be OTT and of little practical use - if its less than say 2% as most will be does it matter? The important thing in my view is to get an understanding of the type of investments the fund likes which is what the current data provides.

Perhaps the data is more important in the US where fund holders are taxed on the capital gains of the underlying assets.
