National Tyre - AA membership discount not applied

So I rang up the nearest branch to me and asked for a quote on some Good Year Efficiency performance Tyre's for the front two of my car. I said over the phone I am a AA member where I was told I could get discount for tyres on this and the guy over the phone gave me the price and I thought it was reasonably cheap for new tyres so I asked for them to be ordered.

So when it came to the tyres being fitted and paying for the tyres I was quoted £94.02 over the phone and that is with AA discount applied. The guy could not apply AA discount as it was something to do with my Car previously being a rental car (not aware of that history). So I had to pay full price of £146 giving the difference of £51.98, which the guy said he will call head office and explain the situation and Head office will refund me. He stated "it will take 3-5 working days".

Its been more than 5 days and I kept calling the branch and they said Head office has sorted it on their end so just give it few more days and if you not received call me again.

Have I been scammed? What can I do in this situation if they are scamming me and not going to refund me like they said they have?

Please advise?

I would have refused to pay it and asked for proof of the car being an ex rental, then tell them to refit the old tyres.

The price quoted should be the price you pay, did you quote the reg or tyre size when getting the quote?

What difference would the car's history make anyway; a discount should be a discount unless it specifically excludes ex-rental cars in the T&C's which seems odd? Sounds like you were conned to me.

If you get online prices from National using a promo/affiliate code, go onto private windows/browsing and get another quote. Normally jack all difference.

    And you fell for that?
