Bruges on Eurostar with clubcard points?

I have enough clubcard points for 2 return tickets on the Eurostar.

I noticed on the Eurostar website that you can use your ticket to Brussels to continue on to any train station. Any anyone done this using a ticket you've purchased with clubcard points? Doesn't mention this anywhere in the T&C's.

Also does anyone have any recommendations for hotels and things to do in Bruges?

Bruges is nice, but quite expensive and full of tourists and tourist prices.
it might be better to visit that town in the day and then Gent in the evening for the nightlife and the cheaper hotels.

I stayed in the Hotel Florian in Gent, it was 54 euros for a double room with bathroom and continental breakfast. it was very clean and close to the amazing historical centre.

can't help you with the clubcard thing, though it does say 'bruxelles - any belgian station' on the eurostar website when you book. if you can't get past bruxelles with a clubcard ticket, then the train fares in belgium are pretty reasonable anyway, as long as you don't use the thalys train :)

All Eurostar tickets to Brussels are valid to any station in Belgium, so long as the entire journey (in each direction) takes place on a single day.
  • Sorry Voyager might have changed since you last went. Travelled to Bruges from Brussells stayed one night and went back to Brussells no problem. Best to give Eurostar CS a quick ring. Whether or not you used Tesco points to get your ticket is irrelevant.

I'm not sure I understand. Did your journey (and ticket) begin in London? Did you use the return half of your ticket to get back from Bruges?

I'm with Voyager on this, the entire journey should be taken on the same day. I was unaware of this and stayed in Brussels one night and moved onto Ghent the next day. The ticket inspector on the train explained (very nicely) to me that I was not allowed to do this but let me off any additional charge.

Hi, we left from Ashford and yes I used the outward ticket on the journey to Bruges and the return Eurostar ticket on the way back, the collector punched the tickets but didn't say anything. We went about 4 weeks ago, maybe he just wasn't that bothered.

When we last went to Brussels, we dropped the bags off at the hotel, then legged it for Bruges.

Came back same day and were in Brussels for another couple of days.

  • Hope you don't mind me tagging onto this thread. On the Tesco site it mentions that it's only valid on standard return fares up to £99. As both me and my husband are going the toal return fare is £118. How does this work?
  • Hiya Speedy,
If you're asking how to get your onward return travel just show your Eurostar tickets on the normal train and it won't cost you any extra. The differences above are really over whether or not you have to complete your onward journey on the same day, I didn't find that but others say you do therefore better to speak to Eurostar customer services to be safe. Have a good trip.

  • Hi CCG
No that wasn't it. What I can't understand is from reading the Tesco t+c is doesn't appear that you can use clubcard vouchers to pay for your tickets if your journey is £100 or more. I was just wondering if my understanding was correct.
