  • Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Good luck to you if it worked out, however giving people a "guide" to what is acceptable or not is a dangerous game to play. That's why debt advisors don't give them out, or give information about them on public forums. You can view that as unhelpful if you wish. You spend what you spend, so put that down, even if you exceed guidelines. By using lower guidelines the potential for people to end up in unsuitable debt solutions is increased immeasurably. By the same token, the CFS trigger figures, which are very much higher, are not meant to be used to artificially inflate someones expenditure, nor are they a target to hit, they are just simply more generous at trigger figure than maximum allowances elsewhere. I think you will find that 99.9% of debt advisors will happily accept that point. If you disagree then it is your right to do so, but you will be in an extremely small minority of professional people.

As for "the FCA stuff", well it is MAT who produce the CFS currently and MAS who are producing the SFS. The reason for 4 categories, as you well know, is for simplification purposes. Should the FCA introduce a mandatory set of guidelines then I cannot see them introducing a set that is significantly lower than the current CFS, and therefore it is very likely that the less generous ones will disappear. For DRO's at least, maybe BR, though I doubt that in the short term. Hurrah and Huzzah for that.

Thank you for saying nice things about me on a couple of threads. Actually I usually agree with DT's posts, and I do here. But equally I usually agree with WBA
