Renting question: Vacating before the end of Contract

It will be worth it.....but having debts on credit cards is one of the things that caused our initial parting. Unfortunately, I still owe about £2000! I worry that it will never get paid off and a large part of it was putting part of the first months rent and the deposit on my card!......Thanks for your kind comments.
For God knew in His great wisdom
That he couldn't be everywhere,
So he put His little Children
In a loving mother's care.0 -

I understand the temptation to not pay the final month's rent but that is a breach of contract and isn't the right thing to do. It should also be totally unnecessary.
We have had this happen on at least 4 seperate occassions, not everybody gives a stuff about contracts.
If you chase them through the courts there can be no point as how do you get blood out of a stone?0 -
Hi Bettyboop,
It doesn't seem too difficult in determining whether your tenancy is a periodic or renewal.
Is the deposit protected?
If not, it is a periodic, or the LL/Agent will be admitting liability that they did not protect the deposit and you take them to court and get 3 x value of deposit. In this case, you give just 1 months notice but becomes effective on a rent day, so whether you give notice now or next week, it won't matter.
If it is, then renewal and you leave at the end of the fixed term unless there is a break clause.
You should be aware if the deposit is protected as you would have received a section 213.
Do not withhold deposit, you will be just as bad as the LL not returning it to the tenant.

Well when you get your deposit back you'll be able to pay off nearly a third of your debt in one go0
