Mauritius Honeymoon ideas

Does anyone have any past experience of this destination. People have recommended going through Kuoni but I feel they're a bit overpriced. We have a decent budget of around 5-6k so can splurge a bit.

    Got married here:

it was great at the time but that was 20 years ago! We keep meaning to go back but always find other places to try first.
The hotel was really nice and the staff very friendly and efficient. We hired a car and drove around quite a bit, the island is quite big and there is lots to see if you want an escape from the beach.
At that time you could split a holiday between 3 different co-owned resorts so we stayed for 3 weeks and got married at La Pirogue after one then spent our second week as a honeymoon at Le Touessrok resort:

    before returning to La Pirogue.
Both were very good and I'd certainly recommend either.

I have been to Mauritius a few times. I would recommend staying in a hotel in the north of the island around Mont Choisy beach, as this is the best beach on the island.

Ile aux Cerfs is a very tiny island off Mauritius and the beaches are even nicer. There is a hotel on Ile aux Cerf or you can do a day trip.

I wouldn't do all inclusive as there are a lot of nice restaurants and they are cheap compared to the UK, so why miss out on the opportunity to dine in nice places.

Booking the hotel and flights directly will be cheaper than going through a tour operator. A direct flight is about £700-£800 per person via Air Mauritius. I use booking.com for hotels as I like to read the reviews. Hotels will arrange pick up from the airport if requested.

Trou aux biches resort & spa.

Booked a senior suite with private pool and beachside. Cheapest price was through hotels.com.
