When I first started posting here, it seemed that most winters someone would ask what do with pheasant: usually Old Stylers who had moved to the country and were surprised by the profusion of these tasty birds.
Anyway, the cheapest I have seen this year is at our local farmers' market: £4 for an oven-ready brace.
That's £1 a portion on paper, but actually I usually make them stretch a good bit further and always get soup & stock out of them.
Any advance on £4? They weren't offering them in feather.

I saw some in Cardiff Market on Friday, but didn't look at the price. They weren't oven ready either!
Also, funnily enough, as we were driving through the lanes today, we went past a house where they had about 8 draped over the fence!0 -

Had a couple from Marylebone High street (London) about a fortnight ago and paid £10 which considering the location I don't think was too bad. They were oven ready.0

Make friends with the local gun club. Never paid for a pheasant yet and they take pity on me being a former townie, and at least skin them ( plucking takes too long )0

Never had a pheasant though hubby did bring one back embedded in the front of his car once when he was working on a school in the countryside. It cost him a fair bit to fix the car.
