AA Breakdown cover cancellation but no refund

Hi, I called the AA for cancelling my annual car breakdown & rapair cover as I've sold the car.
I've been advised they won't refund me a penny for cancellation. They have offered I can freeze it which doesn't work for me as I have 3 year breakdown cover from new car manufacturer.
I also pay annually for car insurance and they refunded me for remainder of the period after deducting the admin charges which is fair way to do
:o
Need advise as although it my be in their T&Cs which they are saying but I think it is still against basic statutory rights and not at par which those with monthly payments and also not in line with car insurance policies!:(
Thanks in advance!

As they have already said no refund in line with their TS & cs ( which you agreed when buying the cover) then you need to persuade them their policy conditions regarding no refund are unfair.
First try a complaint which you can then escalate to the FOS if you are unhappy with the reply at no cost to you.
When that fails you are left with using the court to pursue this, though unless you win this will cost you.0 -

That is because its a different type of contract.Need advise as although it my be in their T&Cs which they are saying but I think it is still against basic statutory rights and not at par which those with monthly payments and also not in line with car insurance policies!
Actually, there is no legal entitlement to cancel a contract like that.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. No
If you were to read up a motor insurance policy you would see that there is an entitlement built in for either party to "cancel the contract", and the policy will set out how this can be achieved.
Whilst firms allow cancellation mid term, there are no "basic statutory rights" that say they have to outside of the cancellation period. It is something that is included as part of the contract.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They do put cancellation options for both sides in their "contracts". Those options are "legal"!
Exactly.
However, in contracts with no cancellation terms outside of the cancellation rights period, there are no statutory rights saying there needs to be.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Your original incorrect advice that I replied to (and quoted) stated there is no legal entitlement to cancel a motor policy.....Actually, there is no legal entitlement to cancel a contract like that.
And statutory rights don't come into it (irrelevant anyway, as there is no need for them as the policy sets out cancellation "rights" for both parties).
In fact it is dangerous advice to tell people they have no right to cancel a motor policy as anyone taking you at your word could be "excused" for keeping a policy running n a car they no longer owned and had not replaced0 -
You now keep banging on about "statutory rights"
The op mentioned it in post 1. I correctly replied that there are no statutory rights. You are the one that is trying to give incorrect information and mixing up statutory rights and contract rights.Your original incorrect advice that I replied to (and quoted) stated there is no legal entitlement to cancel a motor policy.
I never said that.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. This what you wrote:
As I keep saying, if you read your motor policy you will see that it sets out that either side are allowed to cancel.
I refer you to post 1 where there op says they are referring to breakdown and recovery.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
