Honeywell g4 accenta

Hi,

I had a water leak in my house and the water went into the alarm LCD keypad and the alarm went off. I took the fuse off the main control panel and removed the battery to turn off the sound. When I connect it back, internal sounder keeps going off but there is no power to the keypad for me to reset the code. The main control panel does power up. Any suggestions please?

Thanks

Chances are the battery is not holding a charge, so, when you removed power (fuse removed) you locked up the keypad. It happened to a neighbour of mine after a power cut. Solution is to replace the back-up battery (the big one) and then power up the alarm system in a set order. This will be in the instruction/installation manual. From memory it is power off, battery connected, power on. This should allow the keypad to work again and you can enter your codes. They should be the same as previously set. Obviously it would be wise to check that the unit is completely dry and that no components in the keypad have been damaged.
  • Thanks. Will try that. When I connect the big battery back the internal sounder goes off. So if I replace the big battery you reckon should solve the problem? Is there anyway to check if the keypad hasn't gone faulty? The water went into the keypad and I remove it to dry. So want to ensure it still works. Thanks

You need to remove the mains feed from the unit first, that should stop the sounder. Fit the battery, refit the cover (which should close the tamper switch) then apply the mains and (if the keypad is not damaged) you should be able to press reset and/or input your code. If the keypad does not light up after fitting the battery and turning on the mains, it is likely the keypad is damaged.
  • Hi. If the internal sounder triggers when you connect the battery then this would indicate that the battery is fine. The g4 panel contains a number of internal fuses including one that protects the panel pcb from any fault with the remote keypad and its wiring. It is likely this fuse has blown if a fault has occurred with the keypad. Testing and if necessary replacing the fuse may or may not solve the problem depending on the current state of the keypad!

If its the same as a G8, the keypad has its own fuse.
  • Thanks. I replaced the keypad and entered the code which silenced the alarm but my keypad shows tamper fault lockout. Unable to enter any codes. Any suggestions please? Thanks for the help

Have you replaced the cover on the main unit? Have you installed the keypad properly as it also has a tamper switch. It is operated by pressing the keypad down and tightening the screw underneath. Did you connect the tamper circuit in the correct terminals in the new keypad. Here is a video showing how to install a remote keypad. You don't need to do all this but it shows you the tamper switch and wiring. The tamper switch is under the spring. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MU_n38qrJlg
