The AMD system is an APU, it has both a CPU and GPU. And the A10 is better than the dedicated A7 240. So for gaming, it'll actually be better. But its more difficult to upgrade in the future.

So i would go for the i5, then you can always replace the GPU (and install more memory) later on when its needed

    Cycrow,

looking at the A10 system it's 1600mhz RAM supplied, to get the best out of those APUs you need 2133mhz RAM, they are very memory bandwidth dependent. With that RAM you are going to get lower than than the advertised benchmark speeds.

I did notice that fierce PC do a X4 860k system with a Nvidia GTX750Ti which probably would be a better all rounder and certainly a better gaming system for £414.95

NB you have to add an OS, however comes with wifi. The OP could source the OS cheaper from elsewhere to save a few pounds and DIY as they charge £89

Ideally though i'd prefer an i5 with an nvidia 960 but hey we are working to a budget for this chap.
Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.
  • Guys, thanks for everything. I think I'm going for the zoostorm. It is extra, doesn't have the wifi and only has 1 year guarantee, but it seems more future proof (if anything can be)

I'll have to add a monitor now, so extra choice.

Just a senior thought, that in the olden days I would have just stumbled into one of the two or three retailers who sold computers and have a choice of a couple of models with no benchmarks and very little choice. Now it's better but I seem to have over 500,000 models to choose from on ebay and Amazon alone!
