New Tablet Software Issue

I bought a Lenovo tablet from Currys yesterday, with the main use being watching Sky Go on this.
After getting it set up I went into Sky Go and got an error message along the lines of "Cannot connect to Sky Go. Sorry, Sky Go does not support Miracast". Googling around it seems the only way around this is to turn casting off in settings but Lenovo in thier wisdom have taken that function out of their firmware. This has been going on since the Android 5.1 upgrade so not likely to be a fix anytime soon.
As this is not a fault as such am I at the mercy of the retailer if I were to ask for a refund?

I doubt you'll get a refund.
It appears to be a known issue which affects other devices too.
According to messages here, Sky is aware of the problem:I have just phoned the SKY GO helpdesk (03442 411 599) and it has been confirmed that the problem will receive a higher priority the more people report it. The chap I spoke to was very helpful and said my issue would be escalated to the New Media Team and I should expect a call back within 48 hours to take further details. I wish I had called earlier now.0 -
Yes, I read that post (after buying the tablet sadly!).
I agree that they are unlikely to offer a refund no harm in asking I suppose.0 -
when you bought it did you ask if sky go would would work on it ?0

I did check the Sky website and it said all Android devices were supported so had no reason to think otherwise.0

if you didn't ask in the shop you wont have any comeback, saying that worth a try and see if they will exchange for something else0

Just don't go in demanding your rights like a rampaging Bull. It is fit for purpose for most other things, just not this and it is neither theirs or Lenovo's fault. It is down to sky, it is their Software clitch.0

I went in yesterday, explained the problem and after a chat with the assistant manager the sales guy offered me a refund.I was hoping for a credit note at best so a good result for me.
Currys have gone up in my estimation. : )0 -

But it's not a glitch, it's deliberately written into the Sky Go app as they don't want you to be able share content across screens (aka casting). It's down to Lenovo installing a custom version of the Android operating system that has removed the ability to turn off that feature.0
