Good morning everyone.
After battling go get home yesterday and days of wind and rain this morning it's as if I've moved to a different planet. Blue skies, weak but lovely sunshine and thin bands of white cloud outside. The sea is sparkling away and the rain has stopped. Just so weird. Mind you every field is sodden, water levels are more than high and the local river had breached its banks yesterday. Parallel universes.
I'm not going out today. Mum gave me two portions of her pasta bake and I did a shop on the way home, so there's nothing to get.
Today is the second Advent so I'll light two candles on the Advent set. Years ago my mum, who is German, gave me the Advent 'crown" which her mum gave her. It's got four candles ( not fork handles!) and one gets lit each Sunday before Christmas so that when all four are lit it's Christmas. Today is also St Nicholas day - traditionally in Germany children are given a small present of sweets or biscuits overnight. It's meant to help keep the pre-Christmas excitement down a bit. This year I have two Lindt Father Christmas'. :j
Enough. I'm glad that TA is feeling better. Sorry to hear about you not being too well dumpling. Thanks for the carol tru.
Happy Sunday everyone.0 -
Morning all,
Not been out with the dog yet,DH usually comes with me on a Sunday morning but wants to see if the relentless rain will clear first. There is a footpath opposite us and steps leading down to a bridge crossing what is usually a stream,a pipe takes the rain from our road and it joins the stream as an offshoot but is like a waterfall. The noise was terrific yesterday as it poured down and where it met the main bit it was raging.Never seen it like that since we moved here.Sometimes Lyla likes a paddle, but even she would get swept along so she stayed firmly on the lead.Hope no one on here is flooded.
Lazy day planned here, the DGC were here all yesterday and then DH went out last night so we're a bit tired.Might do some baking later, and a bit of wrapping-I've got most of the DGCs bits now,but have whittled away at my adults list and been able to take 2 friends off leaving only DSons & they will just have a token gift,& some money, same for DH without the money :Dalready got him the new book by one of his fave authors.Needs must ,all our money has been going on the renovation of this place.
Food wise I dont have the freezer capacity anymore to prep a lot in advance, will have a look later to see what I can use up this week and make a bit of space,if I could just find enough to do the Ch.Day roasties that would be a help-we will have my younger DB and his family.
Right the rain isnt as heavy I dont think so better get Madam out quick.
Tru thanks for the carols as usual, todays is one of my faves
Lainey glad Bill can be helped.
TA glad youre feeling a bit better, hope it stays that way,

Hi everyone,
I'm feeling a bit better today so I hope to get on with decorating the house. First we need to go to DS' to help them with some DIY.
DD told me that her DH was trying to remove some old rawlplugs yesterday and she told him to ring her dad for advice, but he said he'd google it - unfortunately youtube's answers didn't work so he did ring DH who was able to help. He told DD that he'd thought of the solution himself although I don't think he expected her to believe him!
DD has just moved to Leytonstone so I was glad I heard from her last night after the stabbing at the tube station there, it's only just round the corner from their house.
Dumpling, I hope you feel better soon and TA I hope it is the new treatment and that it continues to work for you.
Have a good day.0 -
Good morning everyone, I have been up since 4.30 but just had an unplanned nap for half an hour. I was woken by the wind in the night well more likely it was someone's back gate banging.
I have another unplanned day, often see a friend on Sundays but she has gone on holiday - to Turkey which might not be my choice right now.
Unplanned it may be but I do have stuff to do so when I have drunk this cup of tea that my DH has so kindly just brought me, will get on.
Last night DH cooked, salmon for me and roast beef and various things in wraps for him and DS. I will cook tonight, a tray full of roast veg and chicken.
Washing went out at 6, it dried a bit until the rain started, now on racks but I must get on, DS has offered me the special gift of a week's worth of washing, sooo kind.
Hope nobody is too badly affected by the gales and flooding.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all,
I'm at my daughters as I'm typing this. Hubby is replacing their extractor fan whilst they are away for the weekend. Youngest has come with us too to help. I feel a bit like a spare part.
Will be visiting my eldest Grandson and his Mum this afternoon as I need to drop a card and some vouchers off to him as it's his birthday next week.
Popped in to give Mom some fruit. Her glasses were filthy so I went to clean them with the glasses wipes I bought a couple of weeks ago and they have gone.
Im annoyed with this fued and it's Mother that's suffering.
Onwards and forwards

Afternoon all ☺
It's still wet n windy here today, so am staying put, n pampering Mrs Pooch, who is 13 today :bdaycake::bdaycake:
We took the kids to a Xmas fair, in aid of a local dog rescue yesterday. The kids got to see Santa, where DGD was buzzing, DGS had his eyes clamped shut, cos he didn't like him. They did a professional photo of them, which we are saving to show to his girlfriends when he's older
Watched strictly last night, n am outraged at the scores Gleb n Anita got, but delighted about who got booted out, which I wont disclose here obviously
Not sure what i'm having for tea, but have weird cabbage cravings today
I ordered DD's xmas prezzies off Amaz0n about 3 wdeks ago, one has come, but the others are due on tbe 22nd, which is worrying me as I like to be organised way before then
Anyway enough waffle from me, and (((huggles))) to all the poorlies n peed off today xx"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Evening all,
Feeling aaaaaarrrrgggghhhh! It's all a bit yuk at the minute. Think I have caught the cold that has been doing the rounds. Had DS2 and his GF here this weekend. Long story but he really still lives at home, well he hasn't moved out but has for a long while spent most nights at his GF's house. She lives with her dad who is a bit of a whatname by all accounts. Love them both to bits but they are the complete opposite of us: lazy, untidy and a bit self centered. DH is annoyed because DS2 has got himself an expensive phone contract. I say 'leave him, he is old enough and he will learn' DH is just 'moan, moan, moan' the thing is I get it in the earhole!!
It would have been my mum's birthday yesterday and I was hoping to go and 'see her' but that didn't transpire
Asked for DH's input into a present for DS1 as I know nothing about the particular item. No help at all until I ordered and paid for it and then he decides this other one is a better buy!! I give up!!
Sorry to rant, oh well at least it's Monday tomorrow and I can escape to work...0 -
:hello: Good evening everyone,
hugs to everyone, and hope no-one has been affected by this terrible flooding.
Well DH and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Strictly yesterday. It was a wonderful experience, and I am so lucky to have got the tickets. The dresses were beautiful and the dancers were fantastic.
We also got to see the results show filmed and the opening number they did was amazing. I would definately love to go again, but this year they had 4.8m requests for tickets, so I think the chances are pretty slim.
Some people had arrived at 3.00am  to be first in the queue, I have to say we weren't among them:D
Anyway back to real life today, I have done the shopping, cleaned the house, and done more washing, just the ironing to tackle in a moment.:)
Have a good evening everyone, stay safe. xSPC 11 #4450 -
Horrid grey dark and dank here today.
We were without internet and phone for most of the day, the whole area and about 3 miles around here went down this morning, it is all back on now, but it was a real nusiance seeing as I needed to order something from the Discworld site for DH
I will do it tomorrow now, I am not going anywhere because the forecast is for rain
I have to go down on Tuesday (Dr and bloodtest), so I will get everything that I need in town then and pick up my prescription to last over Christmas.
Wrapped a few more pressies today, nearing the end now
Had roast beef etc for dinner but very disappointed with the Asda joint, it looked lovely both ends but was all gristle running down the middle, still what we had was nice and tender. The little lodger got the gristly bits.
Got to get used to the cooker timings now that the element has been replaced, everything seems to be cooking a lot quicker.
Off to have a nice shower and into my jammies
BFN xxBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
