We've moved into a house with a power shower. When the cord is pulled, a clear hum can be heard, which we presume is the pump, but no water is emmitted.
Any ideas folks?

I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

Now you're asking.
Give me some idea of what you need to know, and I'll send DH back up to the airing cupboard to investigate.
There are lots of turny things, which we have turned several times, to ensure onness (gaiter valves?). We've had the floorboards up in case we've missed anything, but all seems to be as normal, ditto behind the bath panel.
The chap who fitted it has installed these valve things everywhere. DH says it's a great sustem, as everything can be isolated. It took ages just to get the water back on!
Anyhoo, he was a builder for many years, but has limited plumbing experience, and less electrical. He can however, change a bathroom suite, and has fitted an electric shower, so I don't think folowing instructions re. the shower would be beyond him ~ it's simply diagnosis he can't do.
So, please, ask away, and hopefully you can help us get showered.
Many thanks.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Hi
In my world 'power shower' means a shower mixer or tap supplied with water via a pump eg Stuart Turner.
A shower or tap supplied by mains pressure water is just that .
A shower such as a Triton T80 is a mains instant electric shower.
There is one other type which looks like a mains electric but is fed from gravity hot and cold (stored water) but with a small pump built into it.
IMO these are a waste of raw materials and should be recycled at the earliest opportunity.
By the sound of your post you have a mains electric shower because you have to use a pull cord to start it, but could be almost anything.

Having taken a closer look, it seems that teh bath is of non standard size, because a false wall was built to hide up the pipework running to the shower. it's a lovely neat job, but I think we'll just rip out the wall and shower with teh suite when we replace it, and put in an electric one.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant.
